NURSING DEPARTMENT INTRODUCTION

Nursing is a professional health team member who has adopted the aim of protecting and developing the health of the individual, family and society, regaining the deteriorated health and providing rehabilitation. The basic duty of the nurse, providing care; is carried out with roles such as management, education, research and consultancy. For this reason, in nursing education, the student is provided with the ability to combine theoretical knowledge consisting of basic sciences and nursing sciences with practice, so that the graduate can start his/her working life effectively and immediately.

The purpose of the undergraduate program in nursing is to train professionals who understand human values ​​and behaviors, who can determine the needs of healthy or sick individuals, and who can provide health care in line with these needs. For this purpose, the nursing education provided is carried out on the basis of scientific problem solving, continuous research and learning, in accordance with international standards, national laws, regulations and requirements. In this context, a nurse is a person who sees the individual as a whole with his/her biopsychosocial and spiritual dimensions in the solution of both existing and potential health problems and uses the nursing process, which is a scientific problem solving system.

Professionals who graduate from the nursing undergraduate program are given the title of “Nurse”. Undergraduate education in nursing covers a period of 4 years. The education program is prepared in line with the European Union Criteria and the Bologna process, and includes 4600 hours of theoretical, clinical, and field practice. Our department provides education and training in seven main branches of nursing and provides service with an academic staff consisting of experienced faculty members in each main branch. In addition, faculty members with experience in clinical and field practices, practice and education in the field, serve in student education within the framework of the “guidance in clinical practices” model.

Nursing is a profession that is greatly needed by the society in the world and in Turkey, has a numerical deficiency and has employment opportunities in a wide variety of areas. Those who successfully complete the undergraduate education program can work in preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, private and public health institutions, institutions such as universities, state hospitals, schools and factories, and family health centers. Nurses who have completed their master's degree can work in the field as a 'Specialist Nurse' status, and in the field of nursing education and research, they can work in universities as a lecturer or as a research assistant or faculty member by conducting academic studies. Our graduates who graduate from undergraduate education in nursing have the opportunity to work in many countries of the world due to the equivalence of their diplomas. Nursing education, which teaches us to know people very closely, to be with them in their most difficult moments and to provide the help they need, offers rich experiences and opportunities for the personal development and maturation of the nursing student as well as the individuals served.
